FBCCI put special emphasis on environmental issues while implementing the huge and fast growing economic activities. FBCCI leaders also underscored the need for establishing sector based industries in particular region. The business leaders, in this regard urged the government to allocate lands for respective industries in particular region. Leaders of the organization also emphasized on establishment and monitoring of ETPs to prevent environment pollution, said a press release on Thursday.
These matters were discussed at a meeting of the FBCCI Standing Committee relating to Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Changes held on Thursday at its board room.
Speakers at the meeting, discussed about special attention to pay to the brick fields, ship breaking yards, tanneries and the textile dying plants to prevent environment pollution. They also emphasized on getting the proper benefit of ETP establishment fund. The speakers decided to set up a ‘Environment Cell’ in FBCCI to provide necessary information relating to environmental issues.
Shahedul Islam Helal, Chairman of the Standing Committee presided over the meeting. Hafez Harun-Or-Rashid, Director in- Charge of the committee, at the meeting presented the detailed plan of the committee. FBCCI Vice-President Md Muntakim Ashraf and the directors Abu Motaleb and Md. Abu Naser were present. Co-Chairman of the Committee and the members came from different sectors also joined the meeting.
