Clash over toll: Over 500 sued

Police yesterday filed a case against 31 named and 500-600 unnamed people in connection with Friday’s clash between transport workers and cops.
 Ashraful Alam, Sub-Inspector of Keraniganj South Police Station filed the case, Officer-in-charge of the police station Shahjaman told The New Nation.
A youth was killed on October 26 as police opened fire during the clash with transport workers and locals protesting the toll hike at the First Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge in Dhaka.
Sohel Hawlader, 25, a truck helper, was declared dead after he was taken to a hospital.
The two-and-a-half-hour battle also left about a
hundred people injured. They include 25 policemen and a number of workers and locals.
“Names of several people who were injured in the incident also mentioned in the case,” OC Shahjaman said.
