Satkhira Correspondent :
Satkhira District and Sessions Judge Court has ordered the death sentence of the husband and son, who was found guilty of killing his wife in Satkhira on Tuesday.
The convicts are identified as Deen Mohammad Ghazi (55) and his son Omar Ali Gazi (35), son of late Haldud Ali Gazi of Chanduria village under Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district.
According to the case details, it is learnt that Amena Khatun, daughter of Abbas Uddin of Goalpara village of same upazila, was married to Omar Ali Gazi, son of Deen Mohammad Ghazi of Chanduria village of Kolaroa upazila in November 2016. A month later, Abbas Uddin received the news of unrest in his home. Then on January 6, 2010, at around 9pm, Beai Deen Mohammad Gazi suddenly informed him that his daughter Amena could not be found – where she escaped. Three days later, on January 10, 2017, his body was recovered from the Ichhamati river adjacent to the Chanduria border.
On the same day, a murder case was filed in the Kalaroa Police Station with the names of five people including Amena’s husband-son-in-law. In this case, Sub-Inspector of Kalaroa Police Station Solaiman Akkas submitted charge sheet to the court on January 28, 2012.
In this case, the court gave their verdict on the verdict as the allegation against Amen’s husband, Omar Ali Gazi and the successor, Shaikh Din Mohammad Ghazi were proved unwavering by taking evidence and documenting the case. However, the complaint of Amen had been acquitted of Anwara Khatun.
The Public Prosecutor of Satkhira Court Adv Osman Gani confirmed that the accused were present in Kathgara while declaring the verdict.
