A newborn baby died in a clinic when its father angrily threw the kid on the floor soon after the birth of the baby.
The father was unwilling to accept the boy for lack of wealth to rear the child. Earlier he had quarrels with his wife on many coactions demanding abortion of the child.
The baby was born by a caesarean section in a clinic in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district on Sunday night, report our local correspondent quoting the witnesses.
The hospital management detained the killer father Sazu Mia, people gave him a good beating and handed the man to the local police around 11:00pm on Sunday, they said.
Quoting family members, Nazrul Islam, Investigation Officer (IO) and Sub-Inspector of Palashbari Police Station, told The New Nation on Monday, “Sazu got married with Shahnaz Begum about three years ago.”
He wedded eight years senior NGO job holder Shahnaz by alluring of huge economic benefits. But he deprived her from the facilities. As she conceived, Sazu was indifferent of taking the baby in fear of scarcity of wealth. But Shahnaz held firm rejecting proposal of abortion of her husband. Even Sazu tried several times to do the abortion.”
On April Sazu Mia and his relatives admitted Shahnaz in the clinic with the labour pain in the afternoon. Shahnaz gave birth of a baby boy in the clinic and it was handed over to Sazu as his first child. But Sazu killed the baby by throwing on the floor, the IO said. Sazu also confessed to the police that he killed the baby as he was not ready to take the baby in fear of economic crisis, the SI said.
He gave the confessional statement before the court under the section of 164 according to the CrPC, the police official said. The court also sent him to the jail, he added.
