Farmers urged to cultivate climate resilient BRRI Dhan-72

Agri experts at a function here have urged the farmers to cultivate climate resilient BRRI Dhan-72 on their land to changed climate condition aimed at getting desired output to achieve the country’s sustainable food security.
“As our country has been experiencing an abnormal climate change in recent years due to geographical setting creating a grave concern to agriculture, food, human health, livelihood, soil, environment and bio diversity, there are no alternative to proper strategies and technologies to farm crops coping with climate change”, they said.
The agri experts made the comments while addressing a function on sample crop cutting of BRRI Dhan-72 at south QuazibariSantola village under Bongram union of Sadullapurupazila in the district on Tuesday.
Upazila agriculture office arranged the sample crop cutting function for the farmers under the project of Rice, Wheat and Jute Seed Production by farmers’ level through Modern Technology of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) under the Ministry of Agriculture.
Upazila agriculture officer(UAO) agriculturist Md. Khajanur Rahman addressed the function as the chief guest and upazila agriculture extension officer agriculturist MahabubulAlamBasunia was present at the event as the special guest.
Sub assistant agriculture officer of the block Abu Bakar Siddique and farmer Md. EmdadulHaqueBakshi spoke at the function, among others.
The speakers underscored the need for farming climate resilient BRRI Dhan-72 on large scale in coming season to get desired output.
A large number of farmers and local elite were present on the occasion.
