Torching Govt bus: Fakhrul, 42 other leaders sued

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 42 other leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance have been sued for torching a government bus at Paltan intersection on Sunday.
The case was filed with Paltan Model Police Station Monday evening.
In the case the opposition leaders have been accused of leading, ordering and advising their activists to carry out the arson attack aiming to deteriorate the law and order of the country on the eve of their nationwide hartal.
The accused include senior BNP leaders Rafiqul Islam Miah, Mirza Abbas, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Amanullah Aman, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and ZM Zahid Hossain, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman
Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders Prof Mojibur Rahman and Rafiqul Islam Khan.
Assistant Sub-Inspector of Paltan Model Police Station Abdul Malek Hawlader filed the case also accusing 20 to 25 others unnamed people in it.
The bus carrying staff of the public administration ministry was set ablaze at the Purana Paltan intersection around 6:00pm on Sunday, ahead of the alliance’s countrywide hartal on Monday.
