Fakhrul, 34 other BNP leaders get bail in violence cases

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) granted bail to 35 BNP leaders, including their Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in two cases of violence filed with Shahbagh Police Station of the city last year.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes passed the order after hearing on the bail petition of the BNP leaders on Sunday.
As the tenure of earlier granted bail of the High Court for eight weeks expired, the BNP leaders surrendered in the court and sought bail, said their lawyer Joynul Abedin Mesbah.
Those who got bail are Mirza Fakhrul, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel and Nipun Roy among others. They got bail until next April 4.
On December 11 last year, the two cases were filed with Shahbagh Police Station after three motorcycles were torched in the Supreme Court area.
