Expelled BCL leaders of Eden College call off hunger strike

The suspended 12 leaders of the Eden Mohila College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have withdrawn their hunger strike programme.
The 12 leaders held a press conference on Monday morning at Eden College Gate and announced the programme protesting their suspension.
Later, they went to the Awami League President’s Dhanmondi office around 12:30 pm. After staying there for one and a half hours, the leaders announced that they withdrew their hunger strike.
“Awami League leaders have assured to withdraw the decision of our permanent suspension after hearing the accident to us. So, we have decided to withdraw the hunger strike programme,” said Sonali Akhter, the expelled Vice-President of BCL’s Eden Mohila College unit.
Earlier, BCL central committee suspended all activities of its Eden Mohila College unit and expelled 16 leaders and activists from the organisation.
On Sunday, there was infighting between the two Eden College BCL rival groups which left at least eight students injured.
