A teacher of a government owned primary school was tortured by a former member of the local union council at Gaira village under Chaugachha upazila in Jessore.
The incident took place on Thursday and a case was lodged with Chaugachha police station on Friday. The victim is Mashiar Rahman, 32, teacher of Chhota Kakuria Governed Primary School and son of Altaf Hossain of Gaira village under the upazila.
The victim schoolteacher told newsmen that miscreants led by Ataul Haque, former member of the local union council tortured him after tied him up with a big tree at Gaira village as he refused to press his brother to withdraw a case on Thursday morning.
