Ex-AL leader AKM Jahangir laid to rest

Former state minister for Textile and Awami League central executive committee member AKM Jahangir Hossain was laid to eternal rest at his village home at Ichhadi in Gozalia union under Golachipa upazila in Patuakhali district on Friday.
He was buried beside the graves of his father Md Idris Dhali and mother Maleka Begum at their family graveyard following the fourth namaz-e-janaza.
Earlier, the body of late AKM Jahangir Hossain,
a former member of parliament from Patuakhali-3 constituency, was flown to Bijbardhan Kamar ground under Dashmina upazila by a helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force after the first namaj-e-janaza at about 11:00am. Patuakhali-3 constituency’s MP SM Shahjada, Dashmina upazila administration, party and socio-cultural organisations paid their last respect to the late leader placing wreaths on his coffin there. Afterward, AKM Jahangir’s body was taken to his birthplace at Golachipa. The party leaders and activists paid their respect placing wreaths on the coffin of their leader at Golachipa Awami League office.
Later, his third namaj-e-janaza was held at local high school playground. The janaza was attended by Patuakhali District AL joint general secretary Md Golam Sarwar, Patuakhali Zila Parishad chairman Md Khalilur Rahman Mohon Mia, Golachipa Upazila Parishad chairman Mohammad Shahin, Upazila Awami League president Santosh Kumar Dey, general secretary valiant freedom-fighter Golam Mostofa Tito, Golachipa Press Club president Khalid Hossain Milton, and leaders of local Jubo League, Chhatra League, and other organisations paid their respect to their late leader placing wreaths on his coffin.
Besides, teachers and students from different educational institutions paid their last respect to the late leader.
Then his body was taken to his village home for burial.
Late AKM Jahangir Hossain died from coronavirus infection at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Thursday afternoon while underwent treatment there.
Earlier on December 3, coronavirus symptoms were appeared in the bodies of AKM Jahangir Hossain and his wife Selina Hossain. Both of them gave samples at the BSMMU and their test report came positive.
He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at his death.
