EU organizes English aptitude contest

Department of English of Eastern University (EU) organized “Battle with English,” an English language competition, on Wednesday at its Dhanmondi campus in the capital amidst the festive mood of youths of HSC level students. Teams consisting three students of the same college competed in 3 rounds. Judges of the final round of the competition was Prof Dr Kaiser Huq and Prof Tahmina Ahmed. First three winning college of the competition were; Mohammadpur Preparatory School & College; Viqarunnisa Noon College; Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College.
EU students showcased their co-curricular talent through music, dance and poetry recitation. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Adviser to the Prime Minister was the chief guest and distributed the prizes and certificates among the winning teams. Dr Serajul Islam Choudhury, Professor Emeritus, University of Dhaka, favored the event as the special guest and encouraged the students to keep on gaining knowledge and skills.
The chief patron of the competition Engr Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, EU, along with Md. Azizul Islam, Former Chairman, BOT, EU; Mohammed Ali Azzam, Members BOT, EU and Mashrur Arefin, Additional Managing Director and Chief Communication Officer, The City Bank Ltd, were present in the occasion as guests of honor. They inspired the youths by their motivational speeches.
The Session Chair, Vice Chancellor of EU, Prof Dr Engr. Aminul Hoque thanked everyone for joining the occasion and making it successful. The program Convener Prof Kashinath Roy, Dean, Faculty of Arts, EU, stressed on the importance of gaining competency in English language skills. Sureya Huda, Chairperson, Department of English and Organizing Secretary of the competition enthusiastically thanked all for their support.
