ETV Chairman Salam taken on 5-day remand

Court Correspondent :The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday placed ETV Chairman Abdus Salam on a five-day remand in a sedition case filed for airing an alleged false, fabricated and instigating statement of BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman on his television channel.Magistrate Waezkuruni Khan Chowdhury passed the order after ABM Moshiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) and Investigation Officer of the case, produced Abdus Salam in his court with a 10-day remand prayer.On January 8, a sub-inspector lodged the case with the city’s Tejgaon Police Station accusing Tarique, Salam and other alleged conspirators, who tried to create anarchy through the speech telecast live on Ekushey Television on January 5.Earlier, Salam was detained from his Karwan Bazar office on January 6 and shown arrested in another case filed under the Pornography Control Act 2012. A day after the arrest, Salam was sent to jail by a Dhaka court denying his bail plea.
