Ekushey Padak-winning singer Mita Haque dies of COVID-19

Ekushey Medal-winning Rabindra Sangeet Singer Mita Haque has died from coronavirus. She breathed her last at 6:00 am on Sunday at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital.
The information has been confirmed by Mita Haque’s son-in-law and actor Mostafiz Shaheen. According to family sources, Mita Haque’s coronavirus report came positive when the sample was tested on March 25. Then she was in isolation at home. Later, she was admitted to the hospital on March 31 as her physical condition deteriorated.
Singer Mita Haque was the wife of late actor Khaled Khan. She is the niece of Wahidul Haque, a pioneer of the cultural movement in the country and a Rabindra researcher. Jayita, daughter of Mita Haque and Khaled Khan, is also a Rabindra Sangeet singer.
Rabindra Sangeet artist Mita Haque received the Ekushey Padak, the second-highest civilian award in Bangladesh, in the Shilpakala (Music) category in 2020.
