DU student’s abductor robbed nearly 50 women: DB

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested four people, including the mastermind of the gang in connection with the torture of a Dhaka University student after abduction from Shyamoli in the capital.
Sensational information was leaked after the arrest of the gang members.
According to DB, the leader of the gang, Shakel Ahmed Rubel, has molested more than half a hundred women and committed more than 1500 robberies in the past few years.There are six robbery cases against them across the country.
Mohammad Haron Or Rashid, Chief of Metropolitan Intelligence Police (DB), told it in a press conference at DMP’s media center on Mintu Road in the capital on Sunday (September 4).
Haron Or Rashid said, besides robbing, accused behaved indecently with women. Shakel’s main target was university and college girls.
Before picking up the DU student and robbing her, Shakel stole a motorcycle from Uttara Sector 12 on August 12.
The DU student was abducted with a motorcycle and robbed in Diabari.
Rubel’s home town is Gazipur. But 2 more addresses are found. We are verifying them.
Haron said, Rubel did not hire any house in Dhaka. He used to rent rooms in different residential hotels of the capital. Then they used to steal or hire motorcycles and target university students or college going students.
DB chief said that Shakel was interrogated that he had committed more than 1,500 robberies across the country including Dhaka.
Among them, after the robbery, 50 girls were treated indecently. Rubel used to choose secluded places for robbery.
There are 6 robbery cases against him with different police stations.
Earlier on Saturday (September 3) Rubel and his colleagues Akash Sheikh (22), Delwar Hossain (55) and Md. Habibur Rahman were arrested by Detective police. At that time, 1 foreign pistol, 2 rounds of bullets, 1 magazine, 1 wireless set, 2 motorcycles with police stickers and six mobile phones were seized from them.
