DU celebrates 102nd founding anniversary

Dhaka University, the oldest and largest university of the country, on Friday celebrated its 102nd founding anniversary joyfully paintings various festive programmes and discussion.
The founding anniversary programmes began with the hoisting of the national flags as well as the university and the hall flags at the central playground along with the performance of the university’s theme song at 10:00am.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the ceremony by cutting a 102 pounds cake.
Later, a colorful procession led by Vice-chancellor with teachers, students and staff came to the Teacher-Student Centre(TSC) to attend a pre-schedule discussion.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration)
Prof Muhammad Samad and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani and Registrar Probir Kumar Sarkar were present on the occasion.
Moreover, a discussion titled Research and Innovation: Industry-Academia Cooperation was held at 11:00am at the TSC Auditorium chaired by Vice-Chancellor of the university.
“Dhaka University will conduct such innovations and researches as the needs of industry which also be conducive to the development of the nation. Through the activities, the continuity of the historical contribution of the university to the nation will remain intact,” Akhtaruzzaman said.
Dhaka University started its academic journey on July 1, 1921 with 12 departments, three faculties, 60 teachers, 877 students, three residential halls.
