UNB, Dhaka :
Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Friday asked BNP to take an initiative to hold a dialogue with the Prime Minister instead of the President over
the formation of a neutral and stronger Election Commission (EC).
“As I was President, I know what you’ll get from the meeting with the President. The Constitution says the President will act as per the Prime Minister’s suggestions. He has to do what the Prime Minister will propose. I clearly see that the Prime Minister of this government is the only powerful person enjoying the maximum authority. So, the dialogue must be held with the Prime Minister,” he said.
B Chowdhury came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh organised by Bhasani Anusari Parishad marking Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani’s 40th death anniversary. He also said that BNP should not have missed the chance when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited BNP chairperson Khaleda for a dialogue on her proposals on the election-time all-party government in 2014.
