DSE, CSE open week higher

Key share price index in the country’s twin bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – began the week in positive as prices of most of their issues increased on Sunday.
DSE turnover has reached Tk 7908.39 million changed hands while Thursday’s turnover was Tk 8545.48 million. DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, gained 14.36 points, or 0.22 per cent, to reach 6,336.88 at the close of day’s trading. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 0.79 points or 0.05 per cent to close at 1,394.
The DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 2.64 points or 0.11 per cent to close at 2,280 points.
Of the issues traded, 170 gained, 136 declined and 45 remained unchanged.
AB Bank Ltd. topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 409.40 million followed by Shahjalal Islami Bank, Paramount Textile Ltd and BD Thai Aluminum. The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were ECABLES, PADMALIFE, RENWICKJA, PHARMAID and WATACHEM.
The day’s top five losers at the DSE were CONFIDCEM, KOHINOOR, KPCL, APOLOISPAT and IMAMBUTTON. The CSE key index, CSCX, also went up by 16.73 points to reach 11,861 at the close today.
Of the 256 issues traded, 118 advanced, 97 suffered loss and 32 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 338.87 million.
