DSE, CSE begin week in red

Key share price index at the country’s twin bourses – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – suffered loss on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.
Trading at both DSE and CSE began on positive note in the morning on Sunday, but ended the day with nominal loss after some ups and downs.
The DSE benchmark index, DSEX lost 45.45 points or 0.95 percent to reach 4713.87 at the close of trading on Sunday. Of the 287issues traded, 83 gained, 166 declined and 38 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 390.29 crore changed hands at the DSE on Sunday.
All the major sectors turned negative, with pharmaceuticals, bank, cement and telecommunication losing the most.
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were RAK Ceramics, Phoenix Insurance, Jute Spinning Mills, Kohinoor Chemicals, Style Crafts, Miracle Industries, Prime Life Insurance, Desco, Apex Foods, and Islami Insurance.
The CSE key index, CSCX lost 92.24 points to reach 9269.76 at the close today. Of the 220 issues traded, 49 advanced, 145 suffered loss and 26 remained unchanged. The value of the traded issues was Tk 35.03 crore on the day.
