The 29th death anniversary of the celebrated jurist, parliamentarian, educationist and philanthropist Dr. Aleem Al-Razee was observed in a solemn remembrance.
A Milad Mahfil (religious function) was held in Dr Razee’s commemoration on Monday at his ancestral village home at Lawhati, Delduar (Tangail) where he founded a high school with adjunct primary section, named after him. Students, teachers and local elite attended the function, which included hymns song by girl students and a discussion on Dr Razee’s many faceted life and monumental contribution to the community, society and the nation.
Paying glowing tributes to Razee, the speakers said he believed in academic freedom while upholding discipline, order and congenial environment in educational institutions.
They said that Dr Razee was a liberal and progressive Islamic scholar and thinker as he epitomised religious and communal harmony and reconciliation among different faiths.
The students resolved to emulate Razee as a scholar of repute by pursuing their studies with devotion and diligence. Earlier, members of the Dr. Aleem Al-Razee Memorial Council placed wreaths and offered prayers at Razee’s graveyard in the city at Banani.
