Five more deaths were reported from coronavirus in the span of 24 hours in the district till Friday night.
Besides, 222 news cases were detected during the period, said district civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi from regular briefing on Saturday. He said that the result came after testing total 874 samples in five labs of Chattagram. The death toll in Bangladesh has reached 1095 while the total cases rose to 81,523 till May 12.
Bangladesh on Friday saw the highest-ever jump in coronavirus cases and deaths in a single day as the health authorities confirmed the detection of record 3,471 new patients and 46 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Manikganj corona patient dies on way to Dhaka hospital

A coronavirus infected patient died on the way to a Dhaka hospital on Friday evening. Dr Arshad Ullah of Manikganj General Hospital’s corona ward said that the man was admitted to the hospital with corona symptoms on June 4 and he tested positive for the virus on June 7.
As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Kurmitola Hospital but died in Singair bus stand area around 7pm while being taken to Dhaka. According to civil surgeon office, total coronavirus cases reached 387 in the district. So far, four people died from Covid-19 while 104 people made recovery from the deases.
2 BGB men killed in Rajshahi road crash

Two members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)were killed and 19 others injured in a road accident on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway in Sarangpur area in Godagari upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as BGB lance nayek Jubayer, 34 and Abu Sayed 35, of BGB-53 battalion.
Khairul Islam, officer-in-charge of Godagari Model Police Station, said the accident took place around 7:40 am while a goods-laden truck hit a Rajshahi-bound BGB vehicle, leaving BGB member Jubayer dead on the spot and 20 others including Sayed injured. The critically injured Sayed died on the way to hospital. The rest injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
