Distribution of houses among homeless lauded at nat’l, int’l levels, says JS body

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry mentioned that the government’s initiative to provide homes for the homeless marking the Mujib Year was praised at national and international levels.
The parliamentary watchdog came up with the observation at its meeting at the Sangsad Bhaban here recently, an official press release said. Chaired by committee Chairman AB Tajul Islam, the meeting was attended by committee members – State Minister for Disaster Management Dr Md Enamur Rahman, Md Aftab Uddin Sarker, Jewel Areng and Kazi Kanij Sultana. The meeting discussed the activities of the Mujib Kellah construction, repair and development project and the homeless rehabilitation project in detail and it expressed satisfaction over the progress of the two projects.
 The parliamentary body recommended increasing daily wage of labourers under the employment generation for ultra-poor people project. The Disaster Management and Relief Secretary and senior officials of the ministry and Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
