Diarrhoea on the rise in Sylhet div.

The number of diarrhoea patients is increasing in Sylhet division along with the common cold. The highest incidence of diarrhoea found in Sunamganj district. More than half of the patients are in the district.
Meanwhile, according to sources from the Department of Health, Sylhet, 183 people have been affected by diarrhoea in Sylhet division in the last 24 hours. On the other hand, 2 thousand 56 people were diagnosed with diarrhea last week. Besides, 7 thousand 32 people were infected in the last 1 month.
After reviewing the diarrhoea reports of the last 24 hours, it was found that 27 people were affected in Sylhet, 96 people in Sunamganj, 43 people in Habiganj and 17 people in Moulvibazar.
According to the related sources, seasonal cold is increasing in different parts of the country including Sylhet. Besides, there is a fear that the incidence of various water-borne diseases including diarrhea will increase every year when Bhadra month comes. Due to sudden rapid changes in weather and day-night rise and fall, there is a possibility of catching colds as well as diarrhea and water-borne diseases. Apart from this, due to excessive sweating in hot weather, there is a risk of diarrhea as well as cold-related diseases.
Meanwhile, according to the information received from the Sylhet Divisional Office of the Department of Health, after reviewing the reports from Tuesday to Friday, it was found that 174 people were affected by diarrhea in Sylhet Division on Tuesday (September 6). Among them, there are 30 people from Sylhet district, 72 people from Sunamganj, 54 people from Habiganj and 18 people from Moulvibazar district.
On Wednesday (September 7), 192 people were affected by diarrhoea in the department. Among them, there are 28 from Sylhet, 89 from Sunamganj, 58 from Habiganj and 17 from Moulvibazar.
On Thursday (September 8), 178 people were diagnosed with diarrhoea in the department. Among them there are 30 from Sylhet, 84 from Sunamganj, 42 from Habiganj and 22 from Moulvibazar.
On Friday (September 9), 183 people were diagnosed with diarrhea in the department. Among them, there are 27 from Sylhet, 96 from Sunamganj, 43 from Habiganj and 17 from Moulvibazar district.
It is known that in the last 1 week, the number of patients with diarrhoea in the department is 2056. Among them, there are 222 people from Sylhet, 476 people from Sunamganj, 526 people from Habiganj and 832 people from Moulvibazar.
In the last 1 month, 7 thousand 32 people were diagnosed with diarrhoea in the department. Among them there are 1 thousand 208 people from Sylhet district, 2 thousand 376 people from Sunamganj district, 1 thousand 894 people from Habiganj district and 1 thousand 554 people from Moulvibazar district.
After reviewing the diarrhea report of the health department, it has been found that more diarrhoea patients are being detected in Sunamganj district since 4 consecutive days. Moulvibazar district was most affected in the previous week. Because 832 people were infected in the district during the week.
However, Sunamganj district is at the top of diarrhoea incidence in monthly index. 2 thousand 376 people were affected in 1 month. After this, Habiganj district has 1 thousand 894 infected people. Moulvibazar district is in 3rd position. The number of affected people is 1 thousand 658. At the end is Sylhet district. 1 thousand 208 people have been affected by it.
Sylhet Divisional Director of the Department of Health, Dr. Himanshu Lal Roy, said that it is common for 200 people to suffer from diarrhoea in the department. Such patients remain throughout the year. There is nothing to panic or worry about. However, the number will decrease further after the month of Bhadra. Although the number of infected people is close to 200, the number of hospitalized patients is very less. Our field workers visit the area and collect data on diarrhoeal patients.
He said that Sunamganj and Habiganj have more diarrhoea patients in the division. The number is less in Sylhet and Moulvibazar. If you have diarrhea, don’t panic and call your doctor. Diarrhoea will get better within a few days with proper treatment. However, children and the elderly should be extra careful.
