Bangladesh on Sunday urged France to put pressure on global leaders in the next climate summit to reach a legally-binding agreement to cut carbon dioxide gas emission.
Environment Minister Anwar Hossain Manju came up with the call when France Ambassador at Large for Climate (Asia and Pacific) Philippe Zeller met him at his Secretariat office in the morning.
During the meeting, Philippe Zeller discussed various climate change issues to be raised in the next climate meet – Conference of the Parties (CoP-21) -, which is scheduled to be held in Paris later this year.
He hoped that the Paris Climate Summit would be able to reach a legally-binding agreement to remain the global temperature rise bellow two degrees by cutting carbon emission, and sought all-out support from Bangladesh to do so.
The France climate envoy stressed the need for living up to the pledges of all countries to limit their carbon emission to help check global warming. France Ambassador in Dhaka Sophie Aubert was also present at the meeting.
