Bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman and swimmer Mahfuza Akter Shila got as the best sportsman of the year for their recognition of outstanding performance in their respective sports.
The cutter master Mustafizur got the award for his impressive performance in the year of 2015. Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar were also nominated in this category.
On the other hand, Shila got the award as she won gold in swimming in the South Asian Games 2016. Cricketer Tamim Iqbal and hockey player Ashraful Islam were also nominated for the award.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith attended the ceremony as the chief guest and handed over the awards.
International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Asia president Mohammed Qassim, who was also present in the award giving ceremony, told BSS that he is very happy to visit Bangladesh as well as meet the local journalists.
He said they have also plan to organize some programs with the collaboration of BSPA in Bangladesh in the near future. He also hoped that those programs would come to a success.
Qassim also termed the award ceremony as world class and he enjoyed the great ecstasy.
