Sports Reporter :Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face Chittagong Abahani Limited in the opening match of the KFC Independence Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on March 30. The match begins at 4.00 pm. In the day’s other match, Brothers Union Limited will meet Uttar Baridhara Club at 6.45 pm at the same venue.Marking the Independence Cup Football, a draw ceremony and a press briefing were held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Thursday.Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Abdus Salam Murshedy, Vice-President of BFF Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, Executive Member of BFF Shamsul Alam Chowdhury, MP, General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Executive Member of BFF Harun-ur-Rashid, Executive Member of BFF Fazlur Rahman Babul, Head of Compliance of KFC Sheikh Zahir Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of Premier Bank Limited Shamsuddin Chowdhury were present at the draw ceremony.A total of 10 teams splitting into two groups will take part in the football tournament. Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Brothers Union Limited, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Uttar Baridhara Club have been billed in Group A while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Team BJMC, Soccer Club, Feni, Rahmatganj MFS have been placed in Group B.Top two teams from each group will get tickets of the semi-finals. The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final. The champions will be awarded Taka five lakh while the runners-up will get Taka three lakh.Each participating teams will be given Taka one lakh as appearance money.
