Nat'l Cricket: Dhaka lead by 452 runs against Barisal

Opener Rony Talukdar’s double century and Rakibul Hasan’s ton stimulated Dhaka Division to take a massive 452-run lead against Barisal Division in the first innings on the second day of the eight-team first round four-day match of Walton 16th National Cricket League at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
On the second day, replying to Barisal Division’s 139 runs in the first innings, Dhaka Division resumed the first innings with an advantage of 41 runs lead by means of overnight unbeaten opening stand of 180 runs in 39 overs and eventually took the tally to 591 for 4 at stumps in 128.4 overs.
Opening batsman Rony Talukdar who was on 117 runs on the first day hammered double century scoring 227 runs off 266 balls featuring 26 fours and three sixes on the second day.
Number three Rakibul Hasan boosted the team’s century list making another century of 145 runs off 181 balls with 12 fours and two sixes, before being caught by Salman Hossain off Nasum Ahmed at 510.
The two centurions built a 226-run partnership in 40.5 overs in the 2nd wicket stand to carry the team total to 423 before Rony was caught by Golam Kabir off a Fariduddin Masud delivery.
Taiabur Parvez was batting on 85 runs off 130 balls with nine fours on the second day.
Overnight Abdul Majid (76) added just 6 more runs with his first day’s score before his departure while Shuvagata Hom (40) was the other scorer for the side.
Al-Amin, Fariduddin Masud, Kamrul Islam and Nasum Ahmed took one wicket each for 79, 99, 115 and 137 runs respectively.
