President Abdul Hamid on Sunday said the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India are becoming multidimensional because of increasing connectivity and Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal (BBIN) Initiative.
The President said this when Indian Lok Sabha member Abhijit Mukherjee made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
Welcoming Abhijit, also the son of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, at the Bangabhaban President Hamid recalled with gratitude the Indian cooperation and assistance during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Praising the role of Pranab Mukherjee in Bangladesh’s Liberation War, Abdul Hamid said the Indian President is a true friend of Bangladesh. President Hamid extended invitation to Indian President through Abhijit to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time in the future. Terming the art and culture of Bangladesh and India as the same, Abhijit said India is interested to develop relations with Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries.
