A group of miscreants led by local Awami League leaders Tonu and Rizvy allegedly has been allegedly hampering the development activities specially work of a power plant at Taltoli Upazila in Barguna district .
Taltoli Upazila under Barguna district is the last boundary of Bangladesh . Once there was no development activities in that area but recently, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given attention to the development of Talati.
As the first priority of development, the Government has approved a coal -based power plant in this upazila.
But wherever development programme is taken for this area, a group of miscreants in the name of Awami League is interrupting the uplift activities. The group is led by Upazila Awami League President Rizby-ul-Zomaddar and General Secretary Toufiquzzaman Tonu.
According to local `Oporadh Bichitra’ and other newspapers, Tonu is the grandson of war criminal `Shiru Razakar’.
In order to enlighten the country’s last boundary, the government has approved 350- MW power plant in April 2018.
Bangladeshi `Iso Tech’ Group and China Power Resources are jointly implementing the plant.
But when the land acquisition activates is going on, Rizvy-Tonu Group became active in negative approach.
When the project of land development started, they have taken over the possession of the land of local and Rakhine Community to get high prices.
Besides, they have confused the people who lived on the land of Water Development Board (PWD) to take immoral advantage from the company. In the period of land acquisition, Rizvi-Tonu group attacked on the people engaged in the project.
At first they have beaten a China Engineer for their immoral influence in the project area. Recently, their cadre set fire on the fuel supply vehicle of the company. The people of the project are shocked and fear due to their negative activates. Local land office and people are not finding any basis the land ownership they are claiming.
According to the district administration, the lands of this area (mouza) are settled in three phases. At first the land is given to the Moghs (Rakhine) seven acres, the next three acres plot and the last one acre plot is given.
But one acre was that land which previously given the name of three acres of the plot. For these reason, the complexity arises when determining the boundary. In that circumstance, three acres land owners filed case. Finally, the High Court upheld the case. Each step one acre owners were defeated.
Tonu took the power of attorney of the land from one acre owners. On the other hand, Tonu-Rizvi demanded 8 crore taka from Iso Tech Group when project is started.
Later, the local MP finally compromised on behalf of Iso Tech with them and they were given Tk 50 lakhs. They confessed this subject in front of an investigation committee of the Power Division.
It is mentionable that, Tonu’s Brother Moniruzzaman Mintu also confessed this matter.
The members of the investigation committee were shocked by the confession of their extortion.
It has been known, that Tonu’s Grandfather Seraj Uddin known as Seru Haldar was war criminal of Bangladesh.
His brother Tareque Rahman has been accused of drug trade. Meanwhile, Tareque has also been jailed after being caught with Yaba.
Towfikuzzaman Tonu said about these allegations, ” yes, I have brought the land last November. Is there any barrier to buy land in the project area?
He claimed that he is the owner of 35 acres of and. When asked about the court verdict of this land, he said, `these words are baseless’.
The Director of Iso Tech Mr. Abdus Sobur said, we purchased the land from real owner. We also submitted an application to the local land office according to their claim. But Sub-registrar dismissed that application.
Before, Tonu-Rizvy group misguided the people who were living in the PWD’s land to get immoral benefit. They used that landless people and arranged human chain programme.
But when the landless people rehabilitated with the coordination of District Administration, the said group made another immoral game, it is alleged.
