HC to vehicle owners: Deposit hydraulic horns to PS within 15 days

The High Court on Sunday ordered the vehicle owners and drivers to deposit the hydraulic horns of their vehicles to the police stations concerned within 15 days.
The HC bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order after accepting three reports in this regard.
The court also asked police to destroy the horns.
Earlier in the day, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Joint
Commissioner (traffic) submitted three separate reports complying with its previous orders.
Supreme Court lawyer advocate Manzill Murshid stood for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Tapas Kumar Biswas represented the state.
On August 23, the High Court directed the government to stop use of hydraulic horns in the capital within 48 hours, aiming to mitigate sound pollution.
The court also asked the government to seize all the hydraulic horns available in the market within seven days.
It also issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why use of hydraulic horns in vehicles should not be declared illegal.
The court also asked the authorities concerned to seize vehicles if hydraulic horns are used after August 27.
