Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Monday suggested the media to prepare and broadcast reports in a constructive manner in order to make the judiciary stronger.
“If the judiciary becomes stronger, democracy of the country will also be stronger,” he said. The chief justice made the comment while the newly elected Executive Committee of the Law Reporters Forum (LRF), an organization of reporters covering legal and constitutional issues, met him to exchange greetings in his Supreme Court office on Monday afternoon. Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique said the SC judges made various comments during the court proceedings and all of those may not be reported in the media.
“I am a man of a village from Kushtia and I usually talk in my local
language. I become impressed after seeing that media prepares reports on my comments in a very beautiful way,” he said.
Replying to a query, he said necessary steps have been taken to reduce the backlog of pending cases at the courts. The chief justice also said he would take measures so that the journalists get relevant information from the SC offices.
LRF President Ashutosh Sarkar also spoke on the occasion, where Appellate Division Registrar and SC Spokesman Mohammad Saifur Rahman were present.
