At least six house inmates including the defeated candidate received injuries in the attack by the supporters of the winners.
Just after the announcement of the election result the house of Abdul Haque, who lost the polls battle at Gosaipur village, and his family members witnessed Upazila Chairman Abdul Alim to lead the devastation. Abdul Haque was a ward councillor candidate.
But the Fulgazi thana OC M Morshed refused to make any statement without higher authority’s permission when the reporters approached him to say something about the sorry occurrence.
About the accusation, Abdul Alim rather labeled Abdul Haque as confirmed criminal. It was he who first attacked the villagers, who just took the revenge.
Contrarily, Abdul Haque said that Abdul Alim was displeased with him as he fought against his relative, who does not support
Awami League’s ideology. Abdul Haque accused the Police Administration of failing to do justice. He said that he was on the run for security reason.
Feni Additional Police Super Shamsul Sarkar said, justice will be done to the victim on receipt of the written complaint. Sources said that OC did not visit the affected houses till Tuesday in the village yet after ASP’s statement.
