A man was allegedly been killed by his cousin for Tk 100 only at Uttar Helatola village of Kolaroa Upazila of Satkhira district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Rubel Hossain, 28, an inhabitant of Uttar Helatola village.
Deceased’s younger brother and Helatola union parishad member Amirul Islam said that Rubel borrowed Tk 100 from his cousin Abu Sayeed.
But situation turned worse when Sayeed demanded his money back. Sayeed slit Rubel’s throat with a knife, he said.
Local people took Rubel to the district’s Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead around 8:00pm on Friday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kolaroa Police Station Biplob Kumar Deb Nath said, “Sayeed will be caught soon.”
Police have picked up Sayeed’s mother Toruna Begum for interrogation, the police official said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, the OC said.
