Govt to buy rescue equipment with an outlay of Tk 158.91 cr

The government has decided to procure equipment for conducting quick rescue operation immediately after disaster hit with an outlay of Taka 158.91 crore.
“We have procured modern equipment from various countries to conduct immediate rescue operation during the natural catastrophe with an outlay of Taka 69.09 crore,” Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya,
Bir Bikrom, told the House, while replying to a question from treasury bench member Nazrul Islam Babu.
He said the government has undertaken initiative to procure rescue vehicle pickups, rechargeable searchlights, foldable stretchers, body bag, face/gas musk, rescue equipment for volunteers and search cameras, etc.
Besides, the government collected six water ambulances, six rough-sea aquatic boats from The Netherlands and 12 land rovers from the United Kingdom for the country’s coastal belt to face calamity, Maya informed the House.
Meanwhile, the government collected Megaphone Siren from Germany and installed at 35 disaster prone areas of the country, the minister added.
