Death anniv of Hemanta Sarker observed

The 18th anniversary of death of noted communist leader and also leader of Tebhaga Movement, Hemanta Sarker was observed with due respect on Wednesday. National Democratic Front (NDF) chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.
The programmes include placing floral wreath at the grave of the leader at Barenda village in Narail and discussion meeting at Daratana Bhairab Square in Jessore town.
Shymal Kumar Bhaumik, Vice-President, central committee, NDF, was the chief guest in the discussion held in Jessore in the afternoon on Wednesday.
Chaired by Tozzamel Hossain, Vice -President, Central Committee, NDF, the discussion was addressed among others by Hafizur Rahman, Tapos Biswas, Abdul Haque, Abul Hossain, Aktar Hossain, Ashutosh Biswas and Samiran Biswas.
In the discussion, speakers condemned hike of price, bus fair and poor prices of agri products.
Hemanta Sarker was born in poor farmer’s family at Barenda village in Narail in 1916 and died at the age of 82 in Narail on December 28. He took part in several communist movements including historical Tebhaga Movement.
