Leaders of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) urges the Malaysian investors to invest in Bangladesh. He came up the urges while a 40-member trade delegation from Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCGCCI), Malaysia visited to DCCI on Tuesday. Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Sarawak Government, Malaysia YB Encik Malcolm Mussen and Chairman for Commerce Committee, KCGCCI Dr. Christopher Ngui Siew Ling led the Malaysian delegation, said a press release.
DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan welcomed the delegation to DCCI. Abul Kasem Khan said Bangladesh needs huge investment in the energy and infrastructure sector. He also said according to pricewaterhouse coopers Bangladesh will be the 29th largest economy in the world by the year 2030. DCCI also projected in 2010 that Bangladesh has the potential to become 30th largest economy by the year 2030. He said Bangladesh has a large untapped market of halal products where Bangladeshi and Malaysian entrepreneurs can jointly explore its potentials. The current bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia is far below the potentials. He invited Malaysian businessmen to import Bangladeshi best quality jute and jute goods. There is huge potential for expansion of bilateral trade and investment between Malaysia and Bangladesh. In order to increase the bilateral trade to the expected level and reducing the trade deficit, a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Malaysia needs to be inked, he said.  
Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Sarawak Government, Malaysia YB Encik Malcolm Mussen said that there is a huge demand of Bangladeshi jute and jute goods in Malaysia. He said Bangladesh can export agro-products, spice, furniture, dairy products to Malaysia. He also said that Malaysian investors are keen to invest in clean energy and energy waste management projects.
