DCCI urges business-friendly process to bring Malaysian investment

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Hossain Khaled on Thursday urged the government to simplify investment process for Malaysian business in knowledge-based innovative technology.
DCCI President said, Malaysia’s investment is mentionable in this sector. “If the process is made friendlier Malaysian businesses will increase investment in 2016”, he said.
Malaysia is the 4th country among the top five foreign investors in Bangladesh he said this while addressing a seminar titled ‘Bangladesh-Malaysia Trade Bonding: Opportunities and Challenges’ organised in the inauguration Ceremony of Showcase Malaysia 2015 at a hotel in the capital.
Addressing the seminar, Paban Chowdhury Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEZA and Malaysia-based Company MATRADE’s Director Abu Bakar Kayakutty presented two key-note papers in the seminar. The seminar organised by Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI).
Participating in the seminar edotco Bangladesh Company Ltd’s Managing Director Darryll Sinappa said: “We are operating business in Bangladesh with innovative telecom service. We will invest a huge amount in 2016 if investment-friendly policy continues”.
Edotco, a Malaysian company, has already invested $100 million in Bangladesh, he said.
“We are ready to serve Bangladesh telecom industry with our cutting edge technology. We want to provide quality service with our environment friendly fuel efficiency,” he added.
“We are operating our business permitting by official NoC and managing 8,000 mobile phone towers. Government’s cooperation will pave the way for more investment,” the edotco MD said.
Md Ariful Haque, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Board of Investment said: “Bangladesh is an investment-friendly country. “We are extending our hand to protect the foreign investment. Bangladesh and Malaysia have a longstanding bonding. We expect Malaysia’s investment in various sectors will be increased.”
Edotco Bangladesh Company Ltd is participating in Showcase Malaysia for the first time. They are showcasing various products and services.
