DCCI seeks Brazilian investment

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Tuesday urged Brazilian businessmen to invest in Bangladesh’s infrastructure, leather footwear, power & energy, pharmaceuticals and ship-building industry.
DCCI President Hossain Khaled made the call during his meeting with Brazilian Ambassador to Bangladesh Wanja Campos da Nobrega.
DCCI Senior Vice President Humayun Rashid, Vice President M Shoaib Choudhury, Director S Rumi Saifullah
 and Secretary General AHM Rezaul Kabir were also present at the meeting. During the meeting, the DCCI President underscored the importance of maintaining close ties between DCCI and the Brazilian Chambers of Commerce. He told the Ambassador that Brazil could extend its cooperation through technology transfer and expertise for the development of Bangladesh’s agriculture sector, and invest in renewable energy and hydropower sector. The Brazilian envoy suggested DCCI to conduct more research on potential sectors of investment in Bangladesh. She said the exchange of trade delegations of both the countries will close the gap between the businesspeople of the two countries.
The diplomat also noted that the bilateral trade between Brazil and Bangladesh has increased significantly in recent times.
Admiring the quality of Bangladeshi RMG, she mentioned that Brazil is importing readymade garments, footwear and bicycles from Bangladesh. She said there is an ample opportunity for the Brazilian entrepreneurs to invest in auto parts industry in Bangladesh.
