The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a letter of intent with Vietnamese embassy in Dhaka to work together for expanding bilateral trade and investment.
DCCI President Rizwan Rahman and Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Viet Chien signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations on Sunday, said a press release.
According to the agreement, DCCI and the embassy will work together to conduct B2B match-making, organise buyer-seller conferences and trade fairs, expand the scope of product and service delivery activities and conduct joint research.
The Vietnamese embassy will also set up a ‘Vietnam Desk’ at the Dhaka Chamber’s office to boost bilateral trade under the agreement.
Rizwan Rahman said the current bilateral trade volume between the two countries is $650 million.
“It is possible to further increase trade between the two countries by enhancing cooperation, sending trade delegations and conducting joint research activities to explore new business opportunities,” he said.
Pham Viet Chien said there is a friendly relation between Bangladesh and Vietnam. Entrepreneurs of the two countries need to further strengthen their ties to expand bilateral trade, he added.
The ambassador said that there are several potential sectors for expanding trade and investment, in which entrepreneurs from both countries can work together.
