Cultural Affairs Secretary Ranjit Kumar Biswas has been critically injured in a road accident in Natore. The accident took place on Friday afternoon while he was returning from Rajshahi to Dhaka. The ministry’s public relations officer Kutubuddin said he had been rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing a surgery. He said the secretary’s bodyguard and driver were also injured. After the surgery, Biswas will be brought to Dhaka. A helicopter is being sent to Rajshahi for airlifting him, Kutubuddin said. The secretary was in Rajshahi to take part in a programme. Dr Nazmul Hossain of RMCH emergency ward said the accident took place at a place called Razakar Intersection in Banpara under Baraigram Upazila of Natore around 3pm. At first he was taken to a local clinic and from there he was shifted to RMCH around 4.45pm. Biswas had received a critical blow to his head, the doctor said. His driver Din Mohammad and bodyguard Rafiqul Islam were also undergoing treatment there, he said. — bdnews24.com
