Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Rafiqul Alam underscored the need for making ‘digital content’ to make the student library-oriented.
There is no alternative to making ‘digital content’ to encourage the students to go to library, he said adding “the present generation is reluctant to go to library … but they are interested in digital content”.
Professor Rafiqul Alam said this while he was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Automation Activities’ and a two-day training workshop titled ‘Online Cataloging and MARC-21″ at Central Library Auditorium on the campus in Chittagong, said a CUET press release . CUET Librarian Md Abdul Khaleque Sarker presided over the function while Registrar Professor Faruq-uz-Zaman Chaudhury and Institution of Information and Comminication Technology Director Professor Asaduzzaman addressed the function as special guests.
The CUET library has been brought under ‘Open Source Integrated Library System’ with installation of software ‘Koha’ availing international standard cataloging system in the library, the release added.
