Chittagong University (CU) has announced a budget of Tk 360.69 crore for the fiscal year 2021-22. In the proposed budget, Tk 230 crore 75 lakh has been allocated for the salaries and allowances of teachers, officers and employees, which is 74 percent of the total budget. Besides, 55 crore 3 lakh has been allocated for pension.
A total of Tk 265.06 crore will go to the salary allowance and pension sector which is 69.24 percent of the total budget. Saturday (September 25) at 11 a.m. University. Acting Registrar SM Monirul Hasan presented the budget at the 33rd Senate meeting in the conference room of AR Mallick Administrative Building. Earlier, in the fiscal year 2020-21, the budget of Chabir was Tk 351.75 crore where the allocation for salaries and allowances was 222 crore 20 lakh taka, which is 64.18 percent of the total budget. In the fiscal year 2021-22, against the total budget, the university received 351 crore 81 lakh rupees. There is a deficit budget of Tk 8 crore 96 lakh.
At the same time, the revised budget of the last financial year was approved in the Senate meeting of Tk 348.49 crore. Meanwhile, surpassing all past records, this year’s allocation for the research sector is Tk 5 crore 50 lakh. 1 crore 30 lakh more has been allocated in this sector as compared to last year.
