Chittagong University made a good start in the Dokhina First Inter-University T20 Cricket Tournament beating Independent University by eight wickets at the Divisional Women’s Sports complex here on Wednesday.
Independent University batted first after winning the toss and was all out for 66 runs in 14.5 overs with Ajoy making 15 and Subrota 12 runs.
Afnan Gani grabbed four wickets and was adjudged the man of the match.
In reply, Chittagong University easily reached their target scoring match-winners 67 runs for the loss of two wickets in only eight overs with Adnan quick-firing 42 runs off 23 balls
The day’s other match between Cox’s Bazar International University and East Delta University ended in tie at the same venue on Wednesday.
Sent into bat first, Cox’s Bazar University scored 133 for 8 in 20 over with Mustafizur Rahman making 39, Salahuddin 22 and Tareq 20 runs.
Hasan and Mamunur claimed two wickets each.
In reply, East Delta University, riding on 68 runs by Samiul Haque, scored 133 runs in the last ball of the match to settle for a tie.
Later, Samiul was adjudged the man of the match.
Participating teams are: Chittagong University, Southern University, Premier University, East Delta University, Chittagong Independent University, Chittagong International Islami University, Cox’s Bazar International University and BGC Trust University.
