A three-minute video footage recently has gone viral on social media Facebook where it was seen that a student of around 13/14 years of age was mercilessly beaten by 7/8 other fellow students inside a class room. It was not clear which the school was but all of them were wearing uniform of black pant and checked shirt. Anyone who has a school-going boy would certainly be shocked seeing the brutality of these adolescents. Earlier, we have seen several incidents of killings and beatings by the teenagers not only in the city but also different parts of the country.
We think, police action of arresting this young group is not the total answer. Such type of atrocity shows how far the society has become criminalized without compassion for friends and fellow human beings. It is highly worrying to see young ones get violent easily. Their families must have dreams but they will have to bear sadness if such incidents occur frequently. What is more alarming that the young ones see other young ones are being used in public life for violent activities.
Police have arrest power but they cannot improve social behaviour. Our politics has not only polluted, the social atmosphere has also been degraded. And it is doing maximum damage to our young ones. In most cases, they are being used as thugs. So, they are not learning to be self-disciplined. The schools, colleges and universities are not playing an ideal role as educational institutions. The students see around them how the politicians are using young ones in violent activities in exchange of money or other lucrative offers.
It is not only the police but it should be the concern of the sociologists how best to save our children from cruelty. The viral footage on facebook over violence among the young ones is just the eye opener to the fact that criminality is overtaking society.
The schoolboys seen in the video footage are certainly not criminals. They also did not kill their fellow student. But they acted like thugs for which they could have to face criminal charges. They cannot escape from it for the betterment of the society.
