7 of a 10-memberrs gang arrested

Seven people were arrested by police who had been committing crimes including mugging implicating themselves as the members of law enforcement (DB police) agency in different parts of the capital for the last 5 years, said officials of Lalbag Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
According to the sources, a group of 10 people used to work in three groups. A team was in charge of planning and implementation. Another team used to work as follower. And the responsibility of the third party was the operation.
After arresting the seven members of the gang, police said that they all were the members of an organized kidnapping ring in the city.
Police, however, have used Radio Frequency Identification Technology or RFID to catch the accused criminals for the first time.
On the evening of October 22 last year, Biplob Sikder, an employee of a private printing and hardware company, was returning to office after collecting Tk 20 lakh from various creditors of Gulistan Hall Market in the capital. According to the footages captured in the closed circuit camera of the market, one person was following him.
Later a microbus stopped his car at paltan area and finally all the money was snatched in the identity of the detective police.
After filling a case in this incident, the police launched an intensive investigation.
One member of the gang was identified by analyzing the CCTV footage. He was also arrested.
Later, with the help of the information provided by detainee as well as based on the modern technology, 6 more accused people were arrested.
The victim Biplob Sikder said that on that day, a microbus intercepted my car and seven people dropped from the vehicle. Then they told me to open the door saying they were members of DB.
Later they picked me up in their car and snatched the all money beating me mercilessly, victim Biblob added.
Three of the arrested however, have given the confessional statements in court over this incident.
Police said that the 10-members of a gang were involved in kidnapping in the capital introducing themselves as a member of the law enforcement agencies.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police in DMP Lalbagh Division Biplob Bijoy Talukdar confirmed the news to the media saying that those who were in planning and management level, they were basically leading it. One of them is named Shaheed.
We have got the information of about 8 cases against him filed with different police stations. Another is Nayan, there are 3 cases against him too, DC Biplob added.
Earlier, two ASI’s were arrested allegedly for their involvement in a similar crime. The Detective Branch of Police, Lalbag Division under arrested them after getting information published in a report which was earlier submitted to the court by the police.
