A mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) in a drive conducted on both sides of Karnaphuli river on Tuesday evicted and fined two illegal dockyards and fined 11 unauthorized and unfit boats .
CPA Executive Magistrate Mohammad Abul Hashem along with police and CPA Ansar members conducted the drive and evicted two illegal dockyards from both the sides of Karnaphuli River and fined owners of the dockyards TK one lakh each.
The mobile court also realized fines TK 3.5 lakh from 11 different kinds of unfit and unauthorized boats and awarded one month jail to another truck driver for illegal intrusion inside the CPA Jetty.The CPA Executive Magistrate said the establishments were evicted under Port Authorities Lands and Buildings (Recovery of Possession) Ordinance, 1962.
7 containers duplex boards seized in Ctg port : Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) on Tuesday seized seven containers Duplex board worth Tk one crore were imported by misusing bond facilities at Chittagong Port.
Custom sources said Chogacha Printing Limited of Dhaka imported the containers from South Korea misusing the bond facilities.Based on secrete information, officials of CIID seized the containers at 3 no Yard at the port. Jakir Hossain, deputy director of CIID, said an importer can import maximum 120 tons of Duplex board under duty free bond facility but the importer, Chogacha Printing Limited, imported four times higher than declaration.
After physical inspection, the containers were sealed off in presence of the officials of concerned departments, Customs sources said. CIID officials said they would take legal steps against the persons involved in the forgery and for evading revenue nearly Tk 70 lakh.
