Country to export 2 lakh tons rice this fiscal : Dr Hasan

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said Bangladesh has already surpassed many countries in development indexes. “Bangladesh has become self-sufficient in food production. It will export 2 lakh metric tons of food grains in the current fiscal meeting the domestic demand,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of two-day 16th International Scientific Conference on “Intensification of Livestock and Fisheries for Achieving Food Safety and Nutritional Security:
Challenges and Opportunities” arranged by Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) at the university Auditorium. University Grants Commission (UGC) Member Prof Mohammad Sajjad Hossain and Safety Food Authority Chairman Syeda Sarwar Jahan addressed the function as the special guests with CVASU Vice chancellor Prof Goutam Buddha Das in the chair.
Dr Hasan said the country’s population has increased a lot and farming lands have decreased. But, the country has attained self-sufficiency in food production, he added. The minister said food safety and nutrition must be ensured to turn the country into a developed one by 2041.
He hoped that the conference participated by scientists, researchers and professionals from home and abroad will create newer areas in knowledge and research. Appreciating different initiatives of CVASU, the minister urged the CVASU authorities to maintain quality of education.

He said the image in politics is gradually being vanished.

 Information Minister said Oikya Front is welcomed in politics and meeting, rallies etc are conducting recently and there is need of strong opposition to strenghthen the democracy.
 Dr. Hasan Mahmud said also s aid OF are not finding out a basic issue to go ahead movement , sometimes they move with Quota Andolan, Nirapad Sarak and finally with Abrar murder issue but not getting attraction of the people .
He disclosed it while addressing the triennial conference of the Bangladesh Tati League, Chattogram city unit at JM Sen Hall in the city as chief guest recently.
 Convenor of Mohanagar Tanti Legue Nurul Amin presided over it. Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Nizamuddin Hazari MP, Acting President of Mohanagar AL Mahtabuddin Chowdhury, General secretary & city Mayor AJM Nasiruddin were present on the occasion as special guests. P resident of Tanti Legue Engr. Showkast Ali formally inaugurated the conference. General Secretary of Tanti League Khagendra Chandra Devnath, Executive President Sadhan Das Gupta were the keynote speaker.
