Country logs 35 Covid-19 deaths, 1,888 new cases

Bangladesh on Saturday reported 1,888 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours, pushing the country’s total tally to 475,879.
The Health authorities also recorded 35 more deaths from thedisease during the period, raising the death toll to 6,807.
The mortality rate, however, is still at 1.43 percent, said the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to the latest data compiled by Johns Hopkins University Bangladesh is now 26thworst-hit country across the world. So far, 393,408patients – 82.67 percent-including 2,457 new ones in the last 24 hours have recovered.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The infection number reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 6,000 on November 4.
Until now, 2,849,951 tests have been carried out, including 13,540 new ones, and 16.70 percent of the patients turned out to be positive.
Bangladesh is seeing 2794.25 infections, 2210 recoveries, and 39.97 deaths per million.
