Corona affected families in Manikganj get rickshaws, vans, sewing machines

Rickshaws, vans and sewing machines were distributed among the parents of the disabled families affected by the Covid-19 epidemic on Wednesday at the initiative of the Disabled Rehabilitation and Research Association-DRRA with financial support from the donor Niketan Foundation.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous was the chief guest at the distribution of income generating materials.
GhiorUpazilaNirbahi Officer Irin Akhter presided over the function whereUpazila Social Service Officer Abdul Mannan, DRRA Project Manager Md. Nizam Uddin, Project Coordinator Dalima Rahman, disabled children and their parents were present.
The program was conducted by Md. Eklach Uddin, DRRA Project Coordinator.
Md. Nizam Uddin, project manager of DRRA, said 24 sewing machines, 26 vans and 5 rickshaws will be distributed under the income generating activities of the disabled families. On 5 April, 17 sewing machines, 12 vans and 2 rickshaws were distributed in the first phase from the Putiajani regional office of Ghiorupazila in Maniganj.
The DRRA has already provided Tk. 1,500 for the purchase of fertilizers and seeds among 56 families, Tk 10,000 for running a tea shop and Tk 4,650 for 20 parents for purchasing sewing materials.
He added that the project will increase the income of families with disabilities and they will have the opportunity to earn money in this corona situation. This will pave the way for feeding their disabled children.
In his welcome address, the project manager highlighted the activities of DRRA in the Covid-19 epidemic as well as the activities of the income-generating projects being implemented in the Covid-19 epidemic.
