The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has found sufficient evidence against seven members of Detective Branch (DB)of Police for taking Tk 17 lakh ransom money from a businessman after abduction in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
The investigation team is likely to submit their probe report this month, said Md Moniruzzaman, Investigation Officer and Additional Superintendent of Police of Cox’s Bazar.
The accused will be tried in the abduction case, the police Official said.  
He said this is not final report, but chargesheet will be submitted.
The PBI took the charge of investigation on October 30, sources said.
Earlier, Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court sent them to Cox’s Bazar jail after Md Shafiul Alam, Inspector (operation) of Teknaf Police Station and Investigation Officer of the case, produced them in the court.
Six of them were detained yesterday with a ransom of Tk 17 lakh in Cox’s Bazar half an hour after the six along with another DB man released a local trader they abducted.
The seven DB men kidnapped blanket trader Abdul Gafur, younger brother of Teknaf municipality Mayor Moniruzzaman, from the district town and demanded Tk 50 lakh as ransom.
Hours after the release, Abdul Gafur lodged a case Teknaf Police Station against the BD men in the penal court.
Gafur brought allegations in the case that the DB men abducted him and threatened him to kill if he failed to pay Tk 50 lakh as ransom to the lawmen.  
The accused are Inspector Yeasir Arafat; Sub-Inspectors Abul Kalam Azad, Golam Mortoza and Firoz Ahmed; Assistant Sub-inspector Md Nuruzzaman and Constable Mostafa Alam.
Of them, Md Nuruzzaman who escaped the arrest surrendered to the law enforcer voluntarily.
