The Rathajatra, chariot festival of Lord Jagannath and one of the religious festivals of the Hindu community ended on Sunday evening. .The return Rathajatra will be held on July 7 next .
In observance of the festival, various religious organizations and temples held different programmes.
Police Commissioner of Chittagong Md. Shafiqul Islam inaugurated the colourful Rathjatra function from Nandankhanan Rather Pukur in city at 4 pm as arranged by the Central Rathjatra Committee of Chittagong .
On the other hand, city Mayor Manzoor Alam inaugurated another Rathjatra from Pabartak crossing in city as arranged by the ISKON (International centre for Krishna Sangha).
The devotee Hindus irrespective of caste and creed participated the chariot function . In his inaugural speech city Mayor said the re ligious Hindu community in Chittagong every year brought out chariot procession and he hoped for overall success of the ulto Jatra on July 7 next. Meanwhile Police commissioner after inaugurating the Rathajatra at Nandankanan said chariot function of Lord Jaganath is a gatherings of harmony among the religion and every citizen in Bangladesh have religious rights in the country.
